Painted Cats of Sorrento

 2015 Finish-Along
19. Kitty Wedding Ring

The Laurel Burch fabric reminds me of the painted ceramics of Sorrento, Italy.

Here are some photos of the process.
I have not had a chance to measure or photograph the whole quilt at this time
so more details will eventually follow . . .

This quilt was started in a class with the Narragansett Bay Quilters Guild,
East Greenwich, RI in 2008. I can't believe it was that long ago.
Of course the only way I know the date is my Quilty friend Peggy-doodle,
who also took the class, finished her project and has a label to provide the date in question.
Thank goodness for friends that don't judge.

The class was taught by a wonderful quilt artist here in RI.
After the class I just packed up all the fabric, brought it home and promptly forgot about it
- for about 6 1/2 years! Then the same instructor was gathering a UFO class -
the premise - bring a quilt you want to have finished and if you succeed,
you receive 1/2 the class fee back.

EUREKA - not only the motivation to finish the quilt -
but also the quilt artist  to show me what to do!
At the start, I was just hoping to get 9 rings together for a wall hanging
but the bits a pieces started to come together and I was having too much fun to stop.
It grew to 5 x 7 (35 rings).

The quilt is finally finished, except for the label and a hanging sleeve
for a local show in September - but of course there is plenty of time for that.
The backing is flannel so it'll be nice and warm for these crazy New England winters.

Finally a finish to link up with

    1. Thank you - I loved this fabric when I purchased it and am so glad I had fabric to match the colors. All the rings came from my stash of favorite fabrics. The binding and squares were donated from my friend Peggy! Thanks for commenting!
