March's Great Escape Quilt Weekend - Burrgoyne Surrounded
The class for the Quilt Weekend was a mystery. The instructions were for a scrappy quilt - light, medium, and dark fabric.
The pattern reveled the Burgoyne Surrounded Quilt Block. I'm just getting back to the bits and pieces. My original background was a floral - pink flowers with green leaves on a dark field - I'm having trouble telling if it is Black or Navy.
I played with the lay out before I started sewing:
1. I loved the dark green with pink flowers and green leaves - but here it is overwhelming:
2. Using a white on white background looks good but also looks like every one else's.
3. So I decided to add a bit of the floral in place of all the white and I think I have the winner!
Time to start sewing the pieces together! Although it's not yet a finish, I thought I would link up with Crazy Mom Quilts for Finish it up Fridays.

More Bits and Pieces . . .
Auditioning the inner border and the blue binding.
More 9 patches for the outer border.
A small section was inadvertently sewn in upside down. Not sure how this
happened but when I looked closely, it turned out to be an easy fix.

Placemats for RI Meals on Wheels
Two more placemats completed and handed in. The guild has been putting together kits with donated orphan blocks with extra strips for borders. There is also batting and backing in the kit so these go together very quickly. Just picked up three more kits to sew up for our next meeting.

Fun Flannel Pillowcases
Last weekend I decided to make something for the church Bazaar. Little did I realize that it was this weekend. . .
I had some lovely, fun flannel pieces that a friend gave me and they happened to be 27 inches in length. Just the right size for the body of a pillowcase.
I finished 7 fun, flannel pillowcases and brought them to the church for todays sale. Hopefully they will sell. All proceeds will go to the church school.
If you are in RI, stop by St Joseph's church today or tomorrow for some holiday shopping!
