More Bits and Pieces . . .

Auditioning the inner border and the blue binding.

More 9 patches for the outer border.

A small section was inadvertently sewn in upside down. Not sure how this happened but when I looked closely, it turned out to be an easy fix.

Placemats for RI Meals on Wheels

Two more placemats completed and handed in. The guild has been putting together kits with donated orphan blocks with extra strips for borders. There is also batting and backing in the kit so these go together very quickly. Just picked up three more kits to sew up for our next meeting.

Fun Flannel Pillowcases

Last weekend I decided to make something for the church Bazaar. Little did I realize that it was this weekend. . .

I had some lovely, fun flannel pieces that a friend gave me and they happened to be 27 inches in length. Just the right size for the body of a pillowcase.

I finished 7 fun, flannel pillowcases and brought them to the church for todays sale. Hopefully they will sell. All proceeds will go to the church school.

If you are in RI, stop by St Joseph's church today or tomorrow for some holiday shopping!

Beach Beauty

This quilt was started many, many years ago . . . the fabric for the center was purchased at a local quilt shop, that sadly has recently closed. The fabric that started this quilt was the beginning of my fabric stash as I had not idea what it would eventually become. The name came from the fact that the quilt shop was on the way to the beach and, on most visits, I would stop on the way home and pick up some lovely fabric that may or may not go with that first purchase. The end result looks soft and sun faded.

Now that the quilt is finished, it was taken out of the 'hood on a field trip . . .

Started in the . . . . 90's . . . and finally finished August 2015.
size 58" x 69"
Most of the fabric is from Moda.

Placemats for RI Meals on Wheels

The Narraganset Bay Quilters has also joined in on making placemats for the
RI Meals on Wheels program. The goal is to be able to give one to each recipient of a daily hot meal.

At the guild meeting this week, donated orphan blocks were matched up with batting and backing. Members were able to take one home to finish it up. At the end of the meeting there were still some bundles available so I was able to take two.  Here they are - ready for a hot meal. Thanks to the quilter who donated the blocks!
