Two quilt guilds I belong to here in Rhode Island, are currently collecting
pieced and quilted place-mats to donate to R.I. Meals on Wheels.
The goal is to collect 1,000 place-mats to be delivered to the home bound recipients of a daily hot meal.
I have completed three and have two more that just need bindings. The first one is made from two orphan blocks I picked up at our annual quilt retreat. Not sure where they came from but a much appreciated thank you is being sent out to the quilter that decided to donate them.
This place-mat came about from left over strips which were sewn into a lone star quilt.
This place-mat has six left over blocks from a Slice and Dice quilt.
I did tried a decorative quilting stitch on one but after HOURS of ripping out the puckers, I decided to finish the other four with a simple stitch-in-the-ditch quilting. All have been backed with with this purple.
Each is sized at approximately 14 in x 19 in.
